Howard Lee Utt, 97, of Grafton, WV, passed away on Friday, November 10, 2023, after extended illness.
He was born in Grafton on April 8, 1926, a son of the late Ross and Mae (Bunner) Utt.
Mr. Utt was the last surviving member of his immediate family, having also been preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn (Weaver) Utt, on October 27, 2011; his sister, Marguerite Ford; and his brother, Earl Utt.
Howard is survived by a niece, Mindy Ford Mink of Ohio; special cousin and fishing buddy, Wesley Utt and wife Donna of Grafton; a special caregiver whom he made his home with, Lori Pitcher; and friends Christine Duckworth Ward and Mary Morgan.
Howard was a graduate of Grafton High School Class in 1947 and then served his country honorably in the United States Navy. He worked construction for many years and was a member of Beulah Baptist Church. Howard enjoyed shooting pool and reminiscing about the old days of his military service, his parents, and his wife. Howard was very charismatic, enjoyed telling jokes and making others smile and laugh. He was always a joy to be around and will be greatly missed.
Family and friends will be received at the Donald G. Ford Funeral Home, 950 George Washington Hwy, Grafton, WV, on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour at noon, with Pastory Garry Whitescarver presiding.
Interment will follow at the WV National Cemetery, where full military honors will be accorded.
