GRAFTON, W.Va. (WV News) — Warren Hollis Gregory, 82, of Flemington, WV (Wendel Road), passed away on Sunday, November 12, 2023, at home surrounded by his family after a brief illness.
He was born in Flemington on December 6, 1940, the only son of Will and Vonda (Leach) Gregory.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family, having also been preceded in death by two sisters: Calla Frederick and Karen Boutiler; and a stepson, David Bays.
Mr. Gregory is survived by his wife of 21 years, Elizabeth Ann “Liz” Gregory; son, Warren Hollis “Greg” Gregory of Rosemont; daughter, Gretta Gail Griffith of Rosemont; daughter, Alexandria “Allie” Burnside and husband Steven of Flemington; two stepchildren: Jimmy Bays (Kim), and Demarus Mutafis, all of Bridgeport; six grandchildren: Meghann Gregory (fiancé Shaun Shackleford) of Morgantown, Mitchell Gregory (Britney) of Grafton, Chelsey Gregory (fiancé Travis Minnick) of Boothsville, Sullivan “Sully” Gregory of Romney, Todd Griffith (Ashley) of Belpre, OH, and Tommy Griffith of Belpre, OH; three great-grandchildren: Hadlee Gregory, Lailah Gregory, and Kasson Griffith; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Hollis was a graduate of Flemington High School and served his country honorably in the United States Marines. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Grafton and a retired school bus driver with the Taylor County Board of Education.
Mr. Gregory was very proud of his military service and a long-time member of the Taylor County Honor Guard. He was an avid coin collector and also loved working on his farm. Hollis liked singing in the church choir and was very devoted to his religious readings.
Family and friends will be received at the Donald G. Ford Funeral Home, 950 George Washington Hwy., Grafton, WV, on Thursday, November 16, 2023, from 2 until 8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday, November 17, 2023, at 10 a.m. with Pastor Orville Wright presiding.
