Mac Warner, Secretary of State, is running for governor. He said the last election in WV was totally without a problem, unlike other Trump-supporting states and supporters. Now that he’s running for governor, he said the FBI and CIA are going to interfere in the next election.
Does he think that he is so special that the FBI, CIA and DOJ don’t want him to be governor, that he is such a threat against our democracy? This is a red state. What can he be afraid of? Other Republicans? There are no Democrats that I know of in the running.
The Republicans keep arguing election interference as a talking point for political reasons. Warner used the newspaper as a source of making a stupid point. I can’t wait until the other Republican candidates come out with something stupid. As they say, stupid is as stupid does.
Let me clarify: I think they are stupid in not caring what the people want and need. Either stupid or just don’t care.
Now the pipeline. The Republicans in WV, including Manchin, who is no better, have argued for the gas pipeline to be completed. It goes to North Carolina to be sold and liquified and sold to China. They say it’s good for WV. Why, then, is Hope Gas going to raise their rates? We don’t get an ounce from this pipeline!
I’ve written many times before to deaf eyes that Republicans don’t work for the people, only big businesses. Keep voting for them and you’ll keep losing money and rights. I heard that WV went red because the Democrats forgot about the working class. I don’t know about that, but the voters voted for the wrong alternative.
I read the Exponent Telegram July 8 editorial column, which notes how well Gov. Justice and the Republicans got this state in the black, now with a $1.8 billion surplus.
It told how this surplus would be used, kind of. $400 million is in reserve to supplement the state tax they approved. About $430 million will go toward “some” items, including: $40 million to help repair aging schools; $125 million to a consolidated state laboratory; $50 million to the WVU Cancer Institute; $29 million to the School of Osteopathic Medicine.
These are some of the 32 items to be funded, but what are they going to do with the $1 billion left to be used? It’s the Republicans’ discretion how it’s going to be used. I hope the Exponent Telegram uses its people to find out how. I hope the Republicans don’t use it for their own interests.
Maybe a committee should be formed by using teachers, students, social workers, law enforcement, fire department people, emergency workers, etc., and, maybe, a regular man and woman. I’m one of those who “poke holes” because I’m a skeptic when it comes to politicians to use our money for what’s best for us.
