CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (WV News) — Some kitchens never close. This Thanksgiving, many restaurants and their staffs will work to make sure everyone can have a taste of home while most take having the day off for granted.
For those without a standing holiday dinner invitation, and those who’d rather not spend their holiday doing dishes, consider having your Thanksgiving catered by a professional this year.
Restaurants will be open on Thanksgiving Day to accommodate families in need of a larger venue and those who don’t want to go through the rigmarole of cooking and cleaning up after 20 people all on their own, said Preston County Inn owner Jean-Manuel Guillot.
In addition to serving many couples and single diners on Thanksgiving, the Preston County Inn also caters large holiday parties as well, Guillot said.
Butternut squash soup, a mixed greens salad and a Parker House roll will be served as the first course of the Preston County Inn’s Thanksgiving meal. The main course of the evening will be roast turkey over apple stuffing and mashed potatoes with pan gravy served alongside candied yams, green bean casserole and cranberry relish.
For the final course, diners will have their choice of eight desserts, including mincemeat pie, sweet potato creme brûlée and chestnut bread pudding.
Guillot describes the Inn’s Thanksgiving spread as “traditional” and “like going to your grandma’s house.”
The Preston County Inn is a historic 1800s brick house with eight rooms with nightly accommodations, including four one bed/one bathrooms, and four two bed/two bathrooms.
Tickets to the Thanksgiving feast at the Preston County Inn cost $25 for adults and $12 for kids. RSVP by calling the Preston County Inn at 304-329-2220.
Bourbon Prime in the Morgantown Marriott at Waterfront Place will host a Thanksgiving dinner with a full buffet and an al la carte menu on Thanksgiving Day from noon-6 p.m. Spots are being reserved rapidly, restaurant supervisor Erica Heuring said.
Bourbon Prime’s Thanksgiving dinner will begin with potato and cheddar soup with pretzel knots and a garden salad, followed by herb-roasted turkey breast, butternut squash ravioli and gouda cream, cranberry sauce, garlic-whipped potatoes, sage cream gravy, broccoli and cheddar bake, rolls, biscuits and finally a selection of desserts, Heuring said.
Tickets for Thanksgiving dinner at Bourbon Prime are $38 per adult, and $15 per child; call 304-296-1700 to make your reservations.
The Hickory Dining Room at Canaan Valley Resort will be serving Thanksgiving dinner from noon-5 p.m.
Thanksgiving dinner at Canaan will begin with the diner’s choice of salad, including antipasto, southern potato salad, broccoli salad, and tossed and Caesar salads, followed by vegetable soup, hostess Whitney Harper said.
Diners in the Hickory Dining Room will be given the choice of prime rib beef au jus or glazed Virginia ham at the carving station as well as oven roast turkey and maple-glazed salmon, Harper said.
The Hickory Dining Room also will serve sides, including mashed potatoes and giblet gravy, sage stuffing and many kinds of casseroles.
The first three courses will be followed by the diner’s choice of dessert, including cheesecake, cinnamon roll bread pudding, pumpkin and pecan pies and double crust apple pie.
Tickets to the Thanksgiving dinner at Canaan are $45 per adult and $15 for kids, with children under five eating with a paying adult being given complimentary meals. A 10% discount is available for senior citizens and military service members, Harper said.
While the Bridgeport Conference Center will not be open on Thanksgiving Day, it provides family feasts to go each year, which are chilled, precooked banquets with reheating instructions that will help cut down prep and clean up time, General Manager Jena Ligget said.
The Family Feast to-go contains salad, diner’s choice of turkey, ham or beef brisket, plus cranberry relish, gravy, rolls and four sides of choice which include, mashed potatoes, stuffing, sweet potatoes, corn, carrots, mac and cheese and green beans.
All sides and protein options are also available a la carte, Ligget said.
Diners also have their choice of pie, including pumpkin, sweet potato, pecan and Granny Smith apple.
The Family Feast to-go feeds up to 10 people and costs $275, Ligget said. Orders were due earlier this week.
