BRIDGEPORT — Bridgeport City Council is the governing body of the city.
Bridgeport has a council-manager form of government: Council approves ordinances, policies and procedures for the city, and the city manager oversees the daily administrative functions based on the actions of council.
Council is responsible for hiring and determining the salary of the city manager and approving an annual city budget prepared by the city manager and his staff.
Council consists of a mayor, recorder and five at-large members elected to four-year terms by city voters.

Councilman Dustin Vincent
Councilman Lowell J. “L.J.” Maxey
Councilman Jeff Smell
Kim Haws is the city manager.
Council meets at 7 p.m. the second and fourth Mondays of the month in council chambers, Bridgeport City Hall, 515 W. Main St. in Bridgeport.
