Steven Davis (54), Hudson Shamblin (8), Kenyon Franklin (0), and Cole Hines (12) were among six Gallia Academy football players honored by Ohio Valley Conference football coaches on Thursday. Other honorees not pictured were Hunter Shamblin and Joey Darnbrough.
PROCTORVILLE, Ohio (WV News) – Gallia Academy placed four Blue Devils on the all-Ohio Valley Conference first team on Thursday when the league announced its postseason awards for football.
GAHS had Hunter and Hudson Shamblin along with Kenyon Franklin and Cole Hines earn first-team honors after the school finished with a 5-2 record and a third-place finish behind league champion Ironton and second place Fairland.
Joining their teammates on the awards list were Joey Darnbrough and Steven Davis who earned honorable mention for Gallia.
Six Fighting Tigers made the OVC first team and its head coach, Trevon Pendleton, earned Coach of the Year honors for the fourth time.
IHS first team honorees were Shaun Terry, Josh Johnson, Noah Patterson, Braden Schreck, Aiden Layne, and Aris Pittman. Tatum Moore and Bailey Thacker were named honorable mention.
Fairland’s only loss of the regular season was to Ironton and for its 6-1 record the Dragons placed Player of the Year Peyton Jackson, Brycen Hunt, Ryan Dixon, Quentin Cremeans, Jack Hayden, and Will Callicoat on the first team.
Keegan Smith and Garrett Spence made honorable mention.
Portsmouth placed three players on the first team. They were Chase Heiland, Noah Livingston, and Leo Poxes.
Two members of the Trojans’ 4-3 fourth-place team were named honorable mention, and they were Alex McKenzie and Dylan Sanderlin.
South Point’s Elijah Wilburn, Blaine Freeman, and Dontae Harris were named to the OVC first team for the 3-4 Pointers. Derrick Taylor and Brayden Hanshaw were named honorable mention for SPHS’ fifth-place team.
Rock Hill placed Levi Jiles and Anthony Stamper on the first team all-OVC. Honorable mention for the 2-5, sixth place Redmen were Daniel Medinger and Wyatt Jenkins.
Coal Grove (1-6, seventh place) had Brett Klaiber on the first team all-OVC along with Kaden Murphy. Fellow Hornets Joey Scarberry and Devin Bloomfield made honorable mention.
Last place Chesapeake (0-7) had Cam Shockley and Garrett Napier on the first team while Drew Plantz and Spencer Wright earned honorable mention.
