It seems we live in an era where those who shout the loudest, protest the most, and ignore all aspects of decorum are often followed by those who unknowingly lack involvement in everyday truth evaluation and common sense.
The often used old adage “the squeaky wheel gets the grease” is a proven metaphor that survives from generation to generation. The most noticeable actions often attract attention by their difference from the accepted modes of majority conduct and self-guiding personal principles.
In most situations, the conduct and beliefs of the majority should be the guiding measure of a civilized and educated society. We live in a period of advanced scientific knowledge as never before in world history. With all the easily accessible tools for acquiring information, we should be the best informed society of all time.
It seems that the easier knowledge is made available, the less it is used by the majority for its intended purpose. Too often we misuse these tools in different manners such as for political propaganda.
Twenty-first century headlines are often comprised of attention getting and out of the ordinary efforts by a very small minority (the squeaky wheel) who have been taught to make a lot of noise and create confusion and mass protest in order to spread acrimony.
America needs a rededication by the mainstream majority to protect free speech and allow proper dissent while, at the same time, speaking out in protecting our blessed heritage of democratic rule by the majority.
In several of my columns over the years, I have stated that if all Americans were required to vote, I would not fear the outcome. The mainstream majority far outnumbers the voices of discontent with their wild notions in all aspects of government and daily society. I use the word “notions” intentionally as I consider notions usually to involve unwarranted and unsound experimental processes largely for public attention.
Hopefully, I trust the readers of this column are proud members of the mainstream majority. It is time for us to shake off the dust of naive complacency and become vitally involved in promoting truth. The vocal and often radical small minority have attempted to deceive and usurp us long enough.
We are and always have been the mainstream majority. United and dedicated, may we proudly recapture the promise of our American heritage.
