KEYSER, W.Va. (WV News) — Potomac State volleyball was led this year, for the 13th consecutive year, by head coach Martha Ganoe. In that time, Ganoe has received numerous coach of the year honors. Under her guidance, this season, the Lady Catamounts finished an impressive 17-5 overall.
Potomac State compiled an 11-4 record at home, a 5-1 record on the road, and a 1-0 record in a neutral site game.
Over the span of those 22 matches, Potomac State averaged 11.8 kills per set, 10.8 assists per set, 2.8 service aces per set, .9 blocks per set, and 15.8 digs per set.
In terms of experience, the 13-lady roster was evenly divided with six freshmen and seven sophomores. The roster was comprised of a mix of local and outside of the area talent.
Potomac State’s 17 wins came from Baltimore City Community College (3-0 and 3-0), Howard Community College (3-1), Westmoreland County Community College (3-0), Chesapeake College (3-0), Allegany College of Maryland (3-0), Butler County Community College (3-0), Northern Virginia Community College (3-2), Frederick Community College (3-0), Carroll Community College (3-1), Community College of Beaver County (3-0), Garrett College (3-0), Hagerstown Community College (3-2), Cecil College (3-0), Montgomery College (3-0), University of Charleston JV (3-0), and Anne Arundel Community College (3-1).
The Lady Catamounts’ losses were against Harford Community College (3-2), the College of Southern Maryland (3-1), Montgomery College (3-1), Kent State Tuscarawus (3-1), and Hagerstown Community College (3-1).
That second loss to Hagerstown Community College was in the quarterfinal round of Region XX play, ended the Catamounts’ season.
Emonie Fennel was named First Team All-Region XX, Jillian Britton was named Second Team All-Region XX, and Brinlee Harris and Kaitlin Heavener were named Honorable Mention All-Region XX.
