BUCKHANNON, W.Va. (WV News) — The West Virginia Wesleyan men's soccer team  has been selected 4th in the Mountain East Conference preseason poll.
The Bobcats are well-equipped to build upon last year's 7-8-4 overall finish with the return of leading scorer Sinasi Emre Deniz, who found the back of the net nine times in 2022-23.
WVWC will also be bolstered by the return of goalkeeper Bryant Sheffield, who came up with a team-leading 53 saves in 14 starts for the Bobcats last year.
Defending MEC Champion Charleston was picked to win the league again in this upcoming season.
Notre Dame follows in second as they were defeated by Charleston in the championship this past season.
Davis & Elkins falls in third, while WVWC, Wheeling and Frostburg State fall close behind in fourth, fifth and sixth, respectively.
The initial ranking are closed out with West Liberty in seventh and Concord in eighth.
The Bobcats will open up their 2023 season this Thursday, Aug. 31st against GMAC challenger Cedarville University at 7 p.m.
