MANNINGTON, W.Va. (WV News) — Carlene A. Shuttlesworth, 91, of Idamay, passed away on Monday, November 6, 2023, at St. Barbara’s Memorial Nursing Home. She was born February 11, 1932, in Littleton, ME, a daughter of the late Spofford and Louise Corey Crawford.
Carlene was a 1952 graduate of Zion Bible Institute. She was the secretary for the City of VA Beach, VA, and a receptionist at Mystic Seaport Museum in CT. She served with her husband in Pastoral Ministry in Shinnston Mission, Tazwell, VA, Mt. Morris, PA, Harrisburg, PA, Kenosha, WI, Norfolk, VA, VA Beach, VA, Calvary Temple, Worthington, and Bangor, ME.
Upon retiring, she moved back to Idamay with her husband. She was a published poet. She loved to travel to other countries with her husband, over ten different nations.
Survivors include her sons: Ted, and wife Bonnie, Tim, and wife Gwen, Tiff, and wife Judy, Terry, and wife Colleen; grandchildren, Ted Shuttlesworth Jr. and wife Carolyn, Megan S. Wiley and husband Jonathan, Matthew Shuttlesworth and wife Rachel, Michaela Hulburt and husband Steven, Jonathan Shuttlesworth and wife Adalis, Jessica S. Gesualdi and husband Steven, Chelsea Wallace and husband Jalen, Brooke Mullins and husband Jordan, Preston Shuttlesworth and wife Emily, and Grayson Shuttlesworth; great-grandchildren: Madelyn, Kaylen, Joel, Camila, Brookelyn, Teddy, III, Asa, James, Stella, Simeon, Charlie Rose, London Allen John, Triston, Mila, and Zion; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Carlene was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Allen E. “Mickey” Shuttlesworth.
Friends may call at the Calvary Temple Assembly of God Church on Swisher Hill on Monday, from 2-8 p.m., where funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 10 a.m. with Pastor Tim Shuttlesworth officiating. Interment will follow at the Shinnston Memorial Cemetery. Condolences may be left at www.hutsonfuneralhomes.com.
