CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — Judge Peter J. Conley has announced that he is seeking re-election as Family Court Judge for Harrison and Doddridge Counties, Division 1.
Judge Conley, a lifelong Harrison County resident and a West Virginia University College of Law graduate, is seeking re-election to one of two seats in the 18th Family Court Circuit. The nonpartisan election will be held in May, 2024.
He was elected as Family Court Judge in May, 2016, and began serving on January 1, 2017. Judge Conley also presides over Harrison County’s Juvenile Drug Court.
He was chosen by his fellow West Virginia Family Court judges to serve as President of the West Virginia Family Court Judicial Association for 2023.
In addition to his judicial duties, he is an active member of Simpson Creek Baptist Church where he taught children’s Sunday school for over 30 years. For the past 31 years he has served as a volunteer reader at Johnson Elementary School in Bridgeport.
Before assuming his judicial duties, he practiced law in Clarksburg as a member of the Siegrist &White, PLLC law firm for more than 31 years. His practice covered a variety of areas, with an emphasis on family law and mediation of family law cases. He frequently served as an advocate for children in divorce and abuse and neglect cases.
He is a past president of the Harrison County Bar Association and of the Clarksburg Lions Club. He was also involved in the foundation of the James and Derek Hotsinpiller Memorial Scholarship Fund and served as chairman of its board of directors.
He is the father of two children and a proud grandfather of three grandchildren. He and his wife of 39 years, Cindy, live in Bridgeport.
