BUCKHANNON, W.Va. (WV News) — The West Virginia Wesleyan women’s lacrosse team fell to the University of Mount Union at home on Saturday afternoon, 21-2. The Purple Raiders got 32 shots off and had 12 assists in the win.
Emma Adcock and Gaidan Adams scored a goal today. Adcock was able to get nine shots off in the loss.
Sam Karr led Mount Union with five goals. Mackenzie Kolstad and Julia Bates both added four goals each. Madi Karr had five assists as well.
Mount Union wasted no time striking first, scoring the first goal of the game just 54 seconds in.
The Purple Raiders went on to score eight more goals in the first quarter to jump out to a 9-0 lead after one.
The defense for the Bobcats tightened up holding Mount Union to just five goals in the second to enter halftime down 14-0.
Adams scored the Bobcats’ first goal of the game just minutes into the second half.
Adcock was able to get Wesleyan on the board again at the 4:08 mark to make it 14-2.
Mount Union scored a goal with a minute left in the third quarter, holding onto a 15-2 lead going into the closing quarter.
The Purple Raiders put six more goals on the board in the fourth quarter and held the Bobcats scoreless to finish the game.
Wesleyan returns home on Tuesday to host Wilmington at 2 p.m.
