McHENRY — The Garrett County Chamber of Commerce has organized a special promotion to encourage patronage of local businesses on Nov. 25, 2023, for Small Business Saturday.
Last year, Small Business Saturday drove an estimated $17.9 billion based on projections from U.S. consumer reported spending. Studies show that $0.68 of every dollar spent at a small business in the U.S. stays in the local community and that every dollar spent at small businesses creates an additional $0.48 in local business activity as a result of employees and local businesses purchasing local goods and services.
For a fourth year, the Garrett County Chamber of Commerce has partnered with area businesses to “Keep the Cheer Here” and promote the business community by offering a variety of discounts, deals, and giveaways this Small Business Saturday.
“When a local community has a robust network of small businesses, it creates opportunities for other individuals in town as well,” said Chamber President Andrew Fike.
“We’ve reached a record number of participating businesses for Small Business Saturday 2023,” said Garrett County Chamber of Commerce Membership Development Manager Nick Sharps. “We’re thrilled to see the promotion growing and we hope to see the community effort to shop local respond in kind.”
The 30 participating businesses are located all across the county and include: A Mountain Fix, Appalachian Print Studio, Backbone Food Farm, Backbone Hemp, LLC, Bear Creek Traders, Bougie Bottoms Boutique, Byco Enterprises, Inc., Christmas Chalet, CurlyRed Inc., Deep Creek Lavender Farm, Deep Creek Pottery, Deep Creek Wine Tastings, Diehl’s Ford Sales, Energy Select, LLC, Garrett County Health Department, Herbal Earth Apothecary, Julie Mead — Railey Realty, LakeFront Lodge, Little Crossings Pantry & Grant’s Mercantile, Marsh Hill Mercantile/The Studio, Meadow Mountain Hemp, Narrows Hill LLC, Rudy’s Clothing, Savage River Lodge, Team One GMC Chevrolet, The Cornucopia Café, The Perfect Pear, LLC, The Root Café, The Tourist Trap and Town Planner Community Calendar.
Garrett County locals and visitors alike can stop by the Visitors Center in McHenry and check-out the Small Business Saturday display where they can pick up printed copies of the “Keep the Cheer Here” flyer and free “#ShopSmall” merchandise including tote bags and masks.
