The WVNews.com website is designed to broaden our reach in today’s multimedia society and to provide readers with access to all the features that are published in the daily newspaper. It also contains many of our sister papers on one easy site: The Exponent Telegram, Garrett Republican, Preston News & Journal, Fairmont News, Weston Democrat, Bridgeport News, NCWV Life, State Journal, BlueGoldNews, Morgantown News, Jackson Star and Herald, Mineral News and Tribune, River Cities News, Mountain Statesman, Record Delta, Your Bulletin Board, and more.

WVNews, formerly Clarksburg Publishing Company, publishes The Exponent Telegram, as well as several weekly products. It also has a commercial printing division that prints a number of area and state weekly newspapers.

The Clarksburg Publishing Co. was formed in 1927, but the newspaper’s roots extend well beyond that. The Telegram was founded in 1861 as a weekly and eventually moved to daily publication in 1902. The Exponent began publication under another name in 1910.

Virgil Highland, one of the owners of The Telegram, was the principal player in the merging of the newspaper companies in 1927 and became its president. That began a long period of time in which a Highland family member led the company.

Upon Virgil’s death in 1930, his brother, Cecil B. Highland, took control. And when he died in 1957, Cecil’s son, Cecil B. Highland Jr., became president.

Today, under the leadership of Owner/President Brian M. Jarvis, the company has gone through many expansions and is now the fastest growing media company in West Virginia with many print and digital publications supporting the state. WVNews is a growing digital media company and is now the parent company to Clarksburg Publishing Company.
