The Charleston Dirty Birds Baseball team in West Virginia is hosting their inaugural Light the Night event, which will feature over 2 million lights and become the city's largest light festival.
The event will take place at the GoMart Ballpark starting on November 17th and will include a walk-through light and music show, an ice skating rink, a Ferris wheel, themed areas, holiday shopping, food vendors, and Santa Claus. Owner and CEO of the Dirty Birds, Andy Shea, said that the event has been a long time in the making, with lights being put up prior to the end of the baseball season. Shea described the event as a "legit winter wonderland" and stated that the idea was inspired by a similar event hosted by a baseball team in Kentucky.
The event will be open from 5 p.m. each day, except for the next three Mondays, until January 1st. Shea also mentioned that they plan to make Light the Night an annual event, with the addition of a 50-foot Christmas tree and synchronized lights and music.
The event will end at around 9 p.m. on weekdays and 10 p.m. on weekends. Tickets for the event range from $8 to $12 and can be purchased online.
